Not being a lawyer, I'm sure I can't tell you what you need to do, but...it
is my understanding that the Federal Trade Commission requires that
computer manufacturers (I don't know if AE falls into that category)
service products for 7 years after a product is discontinued.

If they can't, or won't, I imagine the first thing is to request for a full
refund on the purchase price. Failing that...by refusing to honor a
warranty would seem to me that they sold you that product fraudulently.
Contact AE, and tell them that you will be filing a complaint with the
Better Business Bureau, and with your State's Attorney General. If that
doesn't get you anywhere, tell them you'll contact the Texas Attorney
General.

Is it worth the hassle? Only you can decide that.
