Applesoft -> ASCII: Problem solved (sans Apple ][)
Thanks to the several readers who offered solutions to my Applesoft to
ASCII query. I cancelled my posting shortly after solving the problem
myself (the morning after posting), but apparently it stayed up on many
systems. My solution follows:
I tracked down an Apple II emulator on the network, complete w/ Applesoft
on a system master disk image (the emulator's legality is questionable,
since it includes what appears to be a fair amount of copyrighted [or
damned close] material, but it probably wouldn't be worth Apple's time /
money to follow it up...). After some manipulation, I was able to transfer
my files onto an Apple disk image (a large file on my PC) and load them
into Applesoft. The emulator then let me redirect printer output to a
file, I set output to go there (PR#1), and just LISTed the programs out.
Came out in 40 column, which I had to edit a bit, but the programs were
otherwise intact.
The emulator is great fun, incidentally, though far from perfect. It was
wonderful trying to remember all the old Apple DOS syntax again!
Thanks again to all who offered help,
Dan
