Didn't you say it was rated at 6?  And you're alreadying running it with
8 mHz?  

Anyway, yes you can try to get it to run at 9 mHz.  It shouldn't cause
any damages.  It'll just crash frequently if it can't handle it (it
probably won't boot at all.  When I tried mine 7 mHz at 9 mHz, it just
wouldn't boot.

I've feeded the whole //gs ~5.8v before, the whole thing just kinda flickered
and rebooted.  I turn it down to about 5.6 immediately.  :-)  Don't try this
yourself, cause you might blow yours.  I've done that about twice.  What
I'm tring to say is, chips are fairly tolerant.  They should do ok between
4-6v...  But you probably don't want to risk it.
