I'm not really familiar with Zips (never owned one), so I don't want to 
answer it wrong.  They are good questions, and I'll add them to the
miniFAQ.

It means it is guaranteed to work at 6 mHz.  Usually they can go 1 or 2
of mHz migher.  My 7 mHz chip on my TWGS was able to go 8.33 mHz.  Some
can go up to 9, very few does 10.
 
This is what they were talking about, getting faster speed for $5.  You
only need to replace the crystal.
