Feel I recently got a slight reaming in a NET transaction. There was not
enough money involved to scream about, but it gave rise to the following
thought. Had I known of any people having unsatisfactory transactions
with the other individual, I would probably not have done business with
him.
Therefore, I am offering to build and maintain a sort of "Better Business
Bureau" complaint list of people who feel they have met unfairness, and
E-mail it upon request to anyone wanting it. In addition, I will make a
monthly post of the _number_ of complaints, not a list of complaints
themselves. Included will be instructions on how to get the list.
CAUTION: Please recognize that a single complaint about any one person
does not definitely condemn the proposed instigator of the problem, since
there is always a chance that the cause of the problem is shared by both
parties. However, if more than one person has a complaint against the
same individual, it would seem there is ample reason to raise the flag of
caution.
IMPORTANT: No complaints will be added to the list until after the person
being complained about has had ample time to respond to the complaint.
The response will be added to the complaint, providing s/he abides by the
space limitations put upon the complainer and responds in a timely
fashion.
So, if you have had a problem and feel justified to participate, please
let me know via E-mail following this format:

COMPLAINER
NAME: Mirrielees, Arch
E-MAIL ADDRESS: archm@pro-scat.cts.com
CITY, STATE: Clearwater, FL
$ INVOLVED: Approximately $30 for replacement part and LD phone calls.
DATE OF PROBLEM: January, 1994
COMPLAINT: I was blamed for a broken cable (I saw when opening package)
since it was I who suggested the shipper. It was sent to me in mfg's very
solid shipping box with mfg's packaging. My plea to split cost was
refused.
RESPONSE
"As I've told you before, the modem is NEW. It was in perfect condition
when I sent it to you in the original shipping container. I feel it is
more likely that any damage that may have occured was done during
installation."
NOTE: Seller earlier said modem had been installed and later removed.

P.S. If there are only a few respondents to this offer, it will be
assumed that the frequency of net transaction problems is too rare to
warrant continuing this effort.
Post is being made here with assumption that "marketplace" is read less
frequently.
