How to get .Z files???

I have a IIgs with modem and no software, as well as well as a Mac. My
question is how do I get a program (esp. telecomm) uncompressed and
onto the Apple? All that gets me anywhere is uncompressing on UNIX and
then Apple File Exchaging it to ProDOS, but this makes it text... is
there an easy way to hack it into an application?

Is there a convenient mail-order company for a good telecomm program?
