As Frank Lin mentioned, I have a program named MIDI Surgeon that will
do just that. It will appear in the Jan/Feb issue of GS+ magazine; Diz
and Joe are just now putting the final touches on it in preparation
for sending it to the printer.

As a special promotional offer...I will translate general MIDI files
to MIDI Synth format. Just pack them up (uuencode, shar, binscii, etc)
and mail them to me at tribby@cup.hp.com . I'll translate the file on
my UNIX workstation using a modified "shell interface" version of MIDI
Surgeon and mail the resulting file back to you. I won't do the
assignment of instruments to tracks or selection of instrument file;
you can do that yourself using synthLAB on your GS.

In the meantime, keep watching comp.binaries.apple2 for a more Bach
translations. Brandenburgs 1, 2, 4, and 5 will be posted this week.
(#3 was posted last month.)
