Apple and file transfers

I am currently using an apple 2c with ae 4.2.

I desparatly want to upgrade to one of the sharware modem
programs.  Since, AE's xmodem protocol is uncompatible with
the unix Xmodem, I cannot trasfers files.  (ALso the 
terminal emulation on my unix server doesn't support
the apple.)  I am using ed to write this so please
excuse the mistakes. :)

Does any one know how I can get files to my //c ?
Perhaps a uudecode prgram?  Umm.. no I would need the binary
which I acannot download.  I'm stuck I guess, ubnless I can find
someone with a //c in Edmoonton Alberta.

help anyone with suggestions?
