Maybe, perhaps, the Apple // system soft team would release a patch-up
they do in their spare time. At least that's the "Rumor/Wish/Blatant Lie"
that GS+ has published. I would NOT, however, hold my breath on it,
since they certainly have other things to do, too.
If the above sceneria does not happen, you're plan out of luck. The
source to GS/OS are (c) Apple, and I very much doubt they'll give them
away.

Huh? What? I'm confused. Why would you want to make the 3.5" drives
work like the 5.25"? I.e., you wish that the user has to tell the computer
that a disk is there? That's stupid.
Besides, you can press the eject button yourself. And I think the fact that
the disk icon remains on the desktop, dimmed, is a definite pro. I hate
the way the Amiga takes the disk icon away after you ejected a disk ...

What 3.5" drive are you talking about? This sounds like a PCT thing.
Is it? If so, why didn't you mention that?
If it is the PCT thing, it's not the fault of GS/OS but of the PCT
driver software. The PCT driver pretends that the disk drives are RAM
drives, so they get polled all the time ... if someone were to write
a decent driver, that behaviour would go away.
