Re: Duo Disk

The controller for the DuoDisk is IDENTICAL to the Disk ][ controller in every
way except for the drive connector (DB-19 instead of a pair of 20-pin ribbon
connectors). Same chips, same layout, same circuitry.

The controller for the DuoDisk is ALSO IDENTICAL in EVERY way to the UniDisk
5.25 controller card. The DuoDisk itself, according to design and intent,
behaves exactly like a pair of daisy-chained UniDisk 5.25 drives. I say that
becasue I know of at least two DuoDisk design flaws that resulted in erasures
of certain copy-protected disks, flaws supposedly corrected by clipping certain
components off of the logic board.

In any case, you should be able to plug the DuoDisk directly into a GS
SmartPort, or daisy chain it off of a GS 3.5" drive with no trouble at all. If
it doesn't work that way, check your control panel settings.

Good luck!
