Husband broke my DMP!

As a newbie I posted this in some Mac bulletin board and was politely
directed to you. When my husband bought a Mac he tried to hook up the
old Apple DMP (pre-ImageWriter) I use on my IIE. It didn't exactly go
up in smoke, but it didn't work on the Mac and now it won't work on my
IIE anymore.  They laughed at me in the computer store when I tried to
get it fixed.  What could possibly be wrong? The power indicator lights
up, but not the select light. I'm convinced my husband did this just to
force me on to the Mac. And O.K., now I'm getting the hang of it.  But
the old IIE ought to be good enough for the kids' homework. Any 
suggestions?  Patty, not John
