Apple ][+ trouble shooting question....

I actually have a Franklin 1000 and I'd like to know just how "dead" it is...
When I turn it on the screen checkerboards and then just sits there. It doesn't
beep and the drive doesn't spin up. Is the disk controller shot or is the bus not
making contact with the controller board? Is there a good way to clean the
contacts of the bus that the board sits in? I guess I should take a volt meter to
it and see if I am getting a good connection.
