Re: Apple ][+ trouble shooting question....
Well, if your system has been sitting around not getting any kind of usage,
then it could just be dust accumulation. I would suggest getting out
your vacuum cleaner, reversing the air flow (ie: Blowing instead of
sucking),
and using that to clean off the motherboard et al. Of course you could
also
get a can of air and do the same thing if you want. Either way. :)
Next I would disconnect and then reconnect everything (ie: Keyboard, disk
drive controller, RCA jack to monitor, etc...). Then try booting the
system.
If it still doesn't boot, then you will need to unplug the unit, take a
damp rag, and wipe off all of the dust which may still be on the
motherboard
et al. Try it again.
If it still doesn't boot, then you should next try reseating the chips
on the board and try booting it again.
At this point, if it doesn't boot, then one or more of the chips are
bad. Since the monitor shows a checkerboard on and doesn't boot I'd
have to say that it sounds like either a video ram chip or one of the
monitor rom chips are bad.
But try the above and then get back with us. :)
