Wrong slot.  You should be telling the software to print to the slot
containing the AppleTalk firmware, i.e. slot 7 for a ROM 01.

[In a ROM 03, you would tell the software to print to either slot 1 or 2
(depening which slot you have AppleTalk configured to use).]

In a ROM 01, you should definitely have slot 1 set to "Your Card".  If
you set it to "Printer", then AppleTalk will either use the modem port
(if that is set to "Your Card") or will not be enabled properly.
