For 8 bit work, Proterm is the best.  It's a commercial product available
from Quality Computer.  Zlink is a shareware comm program available from
cco.caltech.edu via ftp.

Timeout utilities included a comm module to add-on to Appleworks but I
never got it to work so I shelved it and stick with Proterm.
