Mixing SRAM speeds

What sort of dire consequences are there to mixing SRAM's of
different speeds on the same ZipGS? A friend of mine was experiencing
problems with his GS (the same guy with the flakey Vulcan 40 I posted
about a couple of weeks ago). He has a ZipGS 8/64. I noticed three of
his SRAM's were rated at 35 ns and a fourth at 70 ns. Instinctively, I
would have guessed that this sort of mixup would really mess up the
timing of the accelerator. Does have one SRAM exactly half the speed of
the others have anything to do with the computer still able to boot up
in to the Finder? What happens if the 70 ns is replaced by a 60 ns?
Will it knock everything out of sync?
