Thanks to all those people who responded to this thread with helpful
suggestions. I have now solved the problem permanently by installing an
EDA (External Desk Accessory) which uses little-known and completely
undocumented IIgs Manual Screen Wipe routines.
This, together with the drip tray I have glued to the botton of my
monitor, helps to avoid the mess created by running MeltDown at
impossible speeds.
It's been fun while it lasted.... :-)
