OK... I'm referring to electrical continuity--basically, whether one
pin is electrically connected to another one. Yes, you can purchase one,
usually for a couple of dollars. Radio Shack sells them, as do most auto
parts stores.

Maybe not 5-10 minutes, but generally less than 15. It is very easy,
requiring very little mechanical ability. Generally, if you can use a
screwdriver, you can assemble a hard drive with very little difficulty.
