AS a few people responded privately to my request for info on using
a 720k Ms Dos drive in the spare bay of my Transdrive, I thougt I
should let everyone who may interested know the current situation.
The Toshiba 720k at first refused to respond when plugged on to the
duplicate cable and power supply that reside in the Transdrive. I
thought that since it was not an NEC drive there may be some problem
(AE say they made their ROMs recognise NEC).
Then I got a message from Jason Perez and Herbert Fung, and I searched
around the original PC Transdrive and the Toshiba 720 and found a
jumper block numbered 0 to 3.
After much experimenting, I managed to get the 720k working by plugging
that in as the first drive (ie disconnecting the AE 5.25 drive in the
double bay Transdrive) and leaving the 5.25 drive disconnected and
setting the 720k drive jumper to "0".
I still cannot get the two drives to work, but that is no loss, as I
intended to only use the 720k drive 3.5 and not use the 360k 5.25
anyway.
Thanks to everyone who wrote to me.
Michael
