I feel that the suffixes ARE warranted. Both the shk and the bsc files allow
you to have the output file defined, so it shouldn't be such a loss to have
four less characters in the _archive_ name. Eleven characters still gives you
an astronomical number of possible names, and being able to tell what format
a file is in even when doing a 'ls' command in the ftp program _before_
downloading is a great convenience.

Just the open-minded, democratic outlook I like to see here! I wish everyone
would check there flame-throwers at the door of csa2 !!
