Actually my player is quite a bit more advanced than ShellPlay's since I don't
constantly toggle a timer on and off; it's able the synch otherwise, which
saves some CPU overhead.

It does that. I also tried looping directly in the DOC with the old
SoundSmith hack (just swap-mode the sample so it keeps repeating) and that
also buzzed. I'm guessing ShellPlay does some sort of additional processing.
