COMPATIBILITY: Unidisk 3.5 and Laser 128?

COMPATIBILITY: LASER 128 WITH APPLE UNIDISK 3.5 DRIVE?

I recently acquired a Laser 128 computer and am favorably impressed with it.
Soon I will have the two-slot expansion box and will install in it an AE
Transwarp accelerator card and also an AE RamFactor one meg memory card.

Presently my office setup is an Apple IIc with an Apple Unidisk 3.5" drive.
Of course if I set up the Laser 128 I will want to use the Unidisk 3.5"
drive. The Laser manual states that the external drive port can operate
either a 5.25" drive or a 3.5" drive. It is a standard db-19 drive port,
and it does operate the Disk ][ drive very well [with Disk ][ fitted
with db-19 male plug].

QUESTION: Can I plug my Apple Unidisk 3.5" external drive into the Laser's
drive port? I am aware that there are subtle but profound incompatibilities
among disk drives --- for example, the IIgs can take the "Apple 3.5"
platinum external drive but cannot take the "intelligent" Unidisk 3.5 drive
that was designed for the IIe and IIc. My Unidisk 3.5 drive is the most
expensive computer accessory I have ever obtained new ($159), so naturally I
want to take care of it. It works perfectly with the IIc. In the event that
no reader responds to my question, would there be any risk of harming the
Unidisk 3.5 drive or the Laser 128 to just try them together to see whether
they will work? Advice will be appreciated. sebugg
