Um, what if you don't HAVE a "similar line" and don't know
what it is supposed to look like? Time to break out the books.

I don't think I have ever known a single mac user who didn't
have resedit. (not that I know many.. but still)

Umm.. You're saying that someone has made a golden rule
(presumably you are refering to Apple) that everything is too
complicated for the user, and then go onto say that you have no idea
which file you are changing with resedit or how it works? Sounds like
the "rule" is confirmed.
My point is that for someone who is experienced with x-windows
(like you obviously are) and clueless about the mac, then customizing
x-windows will be easier. Somone who is experienced on macs will
doubtless think that customizing the mac is easier.
I have no doubt that I could use resedit to customize a macprog in
minutes (although I have never used it before) I suspect it would
take me alot longer to figure out how to customize a program running
under xwindows.
