Leo, first off, grab a 4 Meg RAM-GS from Big Red Computer Club while they
still got 'em for $99! You'll be glad you did. (BRCC: 402-379-4680)
Second, I know it's a big investment, but you really NEED a hard drive.
You will get SO much more out of your GS with one. Start saving your
pennies! :)
But get the RAM card first, since you can make a RAM disk to get some
increased functionality by using it to boot from. You could use System
6.1 with all the bells and whistles that way.
And finally, yes I believe System 5.0.4 is still available on GEnie for
the RAM-strapped and hard diskless out there. Good luck!
