Is GS/OS 5.whatever available?

I have a IIgs that for years I've used for 8-bit programs only.
Originally a WOZ, it was upgraded to ROM 1, and I have 1 meg on the
memory card for 1.25 meg total memory.   I have one 800k drive and
two 5 1/4 floppies.

Since the ProDOS 16 that came with is obsolete, I recently bought
GS/OS 6.1, even though I'd heard it would be difficult to use with this
configuration (heck, running a native application with difficulty is
better than not running it at all, right?).  But the thing is just
too darned big for my machine.

So: would GS/OS 5.whatever be more satisfactory for me?  And where
can it be found for downloading?  (I subscribe to GEnie, if it's
hidden there.)
