Phantom SCSI device.....

Hi,
        When I boot System 6.0.1 (both shift and shiftless), I get a message
saying that SCSI device number 3 (HDetc.etc002) is not formatted, and would I
like to format it.  I only have a 200meg HD (4 partitions, 3 Prodos, 1 HFS) and
a floptical as SCSI devices.  The GS/OS sees the 3rd device after the floptical
comes online, before the 5.25" and 3.5" drives.  This phantom drive came up
a couple of days after I installed System 6.0.1
        I've also had this problem before under previous systems and it used to
go away after a while.
        I have not tried OKing the "Format SCSI device?" question as I don't
have a backup of my HD... 8-(
        Anyone have any idea what's wrong, or is it just me?  Or is it Apple's
famous "Write Only Memory"?? ;-)
