What you probably have is a straight thru mini din-8 cable. On a super
serial card the necessary cross-overs for the data and handshake lines are
done by the jumper block on the ssc. Get a multi-meter and check the
mini-8 cable for cross-overs between pins 1-2 and 3-5. If the cable checks
pin for pin then you have a straight-thru and you need a new cable.
