: A combined "Apple II Everything FAQ" (hey, cool name! ;-)) will
:quickly get out of hand, IMHO. For example, I would like to see Larry
:Virden's "Apple II Programmer's Catalog" incorporated (perhaps in
:abbreviated form) into the csa2.programmer FAQ.
I would rather NOT see it incorporated. What I would rather see is for
the FAQs to go the way the rest of the world goes, rather than dragging
along remaining in the 70s and 80s. That is to say, use Uniform Resource
Locator ids within the FAQs to point to valuable resources. Then folks
who have the ability to browse the FAQs as live documents are able to
hypertext through the documents, finding information along the way
whereever it is found.
Perhaps someday, if the GS and IIe ever are brought into the TCP world,
we will even have a hypertext WorldWideWeb client which would let us
browse the documents from home - now THAT'S _my_ dream.
If you have access to a box with direct internet access, pop over to
comp.infosystems.www and find one of the several clients which work on
your system and check out the web. Check out the hypertext FAQs that
are being generated automatically at Ohio State. That's the direction
that the Apple 2 FAQs should go - readable in plain text, but ALSO live
for those who can use them.
