Re: Useful programs (where are they??)

What does a good word processor for the GS need? Pretty much everything all
of the other good WPs on other machines have, except for a grammer checker I
think. A tool bar (ribbon bar), drag-and-drop copying, a large spell checker,
macro capability, the ability to append files, mail merge, print preview, the
ability to open many formats and save in many formats, outlining (?),
footnotes and endnotes, rulers in picas, inches, centimeters, whatever,
horizontal scrolling (!), the ability to import graphics, drop caps, inline
graphics, text wrapping around objects, speed, many styles, many open
documents, file linking where you could put a object representing a picture in
a spot on the document but the picture file would be separate to save space in
the WP file, and, uh, well, that's a lot! :)

Some people think that programmable WPs are important but I could settle for
programmable macros.

Oh yeah, and of course full System 6.0.1 support. :)

Some would tell me that this could describe AW 3.0 with a bunch of extensions,
but there is no GUI! To me, that is important.

This could also describe a Mac, but saying that would invalidate this whole
discussion, and that would be ridiculous.
