Re: Useful programs (where are they??)
All this talk about a WP on the GS seems to be getting a little
out of hand. It seems a monumental task for an independent party
to work all this into an effective program. I can just imagine
all the bug-testing this is going to require.
I suggest that everyone interested list the 3 or 5 top features
of a word processor that they can not live without. Sure it
would be nice to have ALL those features but lets first start
out with the important basics.
I assume that since this is for the GS and not the II that it will
be a 16-bit program running on System 6.0 and be desktop compatible.
For simplicities sake I suggest we use AWGS's standard features as
a control model. (What would you like to see in AWGS 2.0? )
I feel this is critical for printer driver complience and such...
This will keep all those DAs happy and we can get to the important
stuff like the actual features. My list goes like this:
1. Smart Spell Checker (how about being able to read the AWGS dic?
That would be one less thing to worry about. While I like
the AWGS Sp Checker it has some bugs like not being able to
distingish between an abbrv. period and an ending period.
So it trys to capitalize every word after an abbrev. There
are others but I'll leave to someone else to list them...)
2. Page Preview (similar to MS Word's preview... I find this to
be an indespensible feature for correct looking printouts.)
3. Show Controls (also similar to MS Word's... I hate hunting down
that "BOLD" space that is screwing with my document.)
4. Theasurus (Very nice feature in WordPerfect GS...)
5. Insert Graphics (I miss this feature from MultiScribe GS)
That's it for me folks... let me hear what your responses are.
I'll be glad to complie a list and post the results at the end of the
month.
Thanks for you time, Mike
