I think I must correct some things. BTM and Number Squares are the only
pre-IIGS programs we are currently distributing. All other programs are
16 bit programs that use as much of the GS' potential as possible for
us. Even the soon to be uploaded Symbolix demo will have 14 channel
stereo sound.
Bright Software has introduced more IIGS specific programs (8 [5
commercial]) than most other companies. I really don't know what we
could do more for the IIGS keeping in mind that we're doing this after
knocking-off. Although it's up to the users to value the quality of our
software, I guess I'm not totally off the mark when stating that we DO
"bother to make use of its capabilities".
We have decided to distribute Big Text Machine because this program
bases on a great idea. A GS specific version of BTM would look
*exactly* the same. If you would pack it into the GUI, you would have
to explain the desktop stuff to 7 years old childrens. I believe that
BTM is one of the rare programs where the platform and operating system
does not matter. Tests have shown that a children need max. 2 minutes
until they can play with Number Squares and BTM on their own. And: in
one "test drive" some children had to be pushed out of the school.
We should also accept the fact that not everyone is willing to upgrade
to the latest computer model. Actually, I appreciate those who can say
"stop, not with me" and do not what the industry wants them to do,
namely buying, buying, buying. (Elementary) schools have a very small
budget, they cannot afford PowerPCs or install networks. But
fortunately small people have modest pretensions. If you give them a
486/60 just for playing Number Squares or reading text with BTM, this
would be IMHO the multiple technologic overkill and would also increase
their demands without any good reasons. Keep it simple!
Later,
henrik
