Take a look at the way the AppleWorks driver from SuperPatch prints
quickly and gives beautiful (laserjet quality) printouts.
As I understand things, this is somewhat what James is attempting to do
with his program. However, it appears that he is not going to use the
H-P proportional fonts that John Link did with his patch to AppleWorks.
I, for one, would not pay for such a program. I can get the same
results using ProTerm 3.0.
The program that is needed, in my estimation, is a program that can
take an ASCII file and print it in proportional fonts.
One thing that has to be decided is how one defines a paragraph:
1. A string of ASCII characters that is ended with an end-of-line
character i.e., ^M for Apple
This is "simple," however, it does have the down side that a string
can have infinite length.
2. A set of ASCII characters that are ended with: ^M^M, ^Mspace,
^Mperiod, etc.
The second definition fuels my locomotive, however, not everyone's.
Kind Regards,
