Using a DeskJet 500c on a IIgs?
As awful it may sound, my brother is currently selling off his IIgs
system and replacing it with an IBM 486-50. I however, still plan on keeping
my own IIgs, and wondering what hardware I can "borrow" from the IBM...
One item is a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 500c (color) inkjet printer. I
know the plain DeskJet "500" can be supported on a GS, but what about the
color "500c"? I already own a copy "Harmonie 2.0" from Vitesse Software, but
will that suffice and actual work with a 500c (even if just B&W support) ?
Is COLOR printing supported at all, and if not, can I least use the
printer for doing black & white printing of fonts and graphics?
..If I can use a 500c, what kind of cable do I need to connect it to my
GS's serial port and how much would one cost? Also, are there any disadvantages
working with the HP-500c on a IIgs system (ie- speed, dpi resolution, etc). At
the moment I have a fairly stock system, consisting of a single 3.5 drive and
2.125Mb RAM -- will this hinder printing? (I'm planning on upgrading my system
with a hardrive, extra ram, and a ZipGS later this month though...). The main
thing I'm interesting in is : _Will a DJ-500c work with Harmonie 2.0?_ :)
(Please reply by NetMail, as I don't often read csa2 :/ )
