control panel lost - NOT dead battery!
At the beginning March, one of my Apple IIGSs (office computer) lost all
of the control panel setting - which of course is the symptom of a dead
battery. Not having a spare Nite Owl battery, I took the Nite Owl battery
from my other GS and placed it in the office computer - later replacing it
with a new Nite Owl battery. All has been running A-OK - until yesterday.
Again - the control panel settings were lost (battery is only 3 months
old). I DID NOT get a new battery but just restored the control panel
setting with instructions not to turn the computer off. I went to the
office today to check out (possibly replace battery) and the computer is
functioning OK.
It appears something else is causing this problem. (One every 3 months is
not too bad but a real inconvenience - office computer is not at my home
site and a non-experienced computer user is operating the computer).
BTW: the 'old' Nite Owl battery I took out at the beginning of March is
functioning OK in one of my other GSs - so it was not dead then!
Any ideas of what the problem could be?
glitch in line?
poor contact of Nite Owl battery?
???
