Ok, so what is a II-BL?

I've had a number of requests as to ???????

I call it a "II-BL" because that is what comes up when you turn it
on.

I got it from a developer; I bought it in total innocense!!  I've
been told by Mac Inc. that I'm a bad boy; so, what else is new!!

The mama board:

Very much the same as a rom 1.  It has a different fpi, sound glu
and ugc.  The roms are on a seperate card plugged into the rom 1 dip
socket.  I'd tell you the version #, but as it is written in pensil
on a stick on label, that may indicate from whom I bought the thing
- so I will not!  The stuff down by the sound chip is different;
instead of MC3340 & LM380, there is only a LM380; the associated
coils are smaller in number as well.  At the other end of the world,
 H5 & H6  (M/C8703L  115-0002) are jumpered out existance as are the
associated coils; what the hell are they for?  Does anyone know?

Dissammembly of the rom chips yeilds different code than a rom 1;
but not much; you can figure out where you are if you try.
 Intrestingly, the ugc is soldered in and does not use a socket?!?
as in the rom 1.  While it has a number of wire jumpers on it, it
looks to be a production model.  All chips are labeled on the board
with a U** notation unlike the rom 1 with its UM*, UK*, UJ* etc..  I
asked Lee Collins at last years K-fest if there were a schematic for
it; he said that he did not think so and that Mac Inc. would not let
me have one in any event.  My eyesight and patience are not
sufficient for me to trace the lines.

The case and other physicals:

Comes in a IIe case.  However, there are recepticles for both types
of power supply plugs; much the same as if you had bought the IIe to
gs mama board upgrade.  It has the holes needed for placing in a gs
case.  It does not have the "Made in Singapore" logo on it.

Comments:

I've not gotten it all working!  It is very "noisy" both relative to
speaker sound and on a scope.  I suspect that the problem is the
daughter board used for the roms.  I've also heard that Mac Inc. had
problems with the sound circuit and we've all heard of the FCC
problems IBM had in developing the PS/2 serries, so I'm sure Apple
had problems with rf noise as well with the gs.  I'd like to try the
regular rom 1 rom in it, but I don't have the chip and don't have a 
burnner to make one.  (Soenke???)  I'm also a chicken - I will not
risk the rom chip from the family cpu; a rom 1.

What do I do with it?:

Good question.  Mostly, I see what will and will not work on it.
 I've had no problems with any P8 software - it is a nice, fast IIe.
 NOTHING gs specific works!!  This is probably because of the rom
changes needed to go from rom 00 to rom 01?  I did not have an
original gs and have no software that I know will work with an
origianl WOS edition.

I hope I've answered all questions.

What will I do with it?:

WHO KNOWS?!?!?!?!?!  I like to think that I'll "fix it up" when I
have time, but that is a joke; with a family, a computer, a job, a
boat and a part time business that idea is a laugh!

BTW, did anyone notice that Cringly (in InfoWorld) said that
Quadra(?) Inc. will be releasing the last "new" Mac this summer?  I
wonder how long into the ???? Skully will claim that Quadra(?) Inc.
will support the no longer made/sold Mac?
