Prince of Persia

I'm sure this is a very easy question:  Was Prince of Persia ever
released for the Apple II?  I know that Jordan Mechner designed
and wrote it on/for the Apple, but it was the MS-DOS and Mac versions
that went on to fame and glory.  The current manual is for both of
these machines, but does not include instructions for an Apple II
version.

I imagine that Broderbund wasn't too happy with a new Apple II game
around 1989-90 and immediately ported it to other platforms.  But
did they ever put the Apple original on the market?
