I noticed a number of people named their partitions after Calvin
and/or Hobbes! Yesterday, I changed my first two drive icons to small
faces of Calvin and Hobbes, respectively. The Truetype font
"DavysOtherDingbats" has many cartoon characters (Doonesbury, Far Side,
Peanuts, C&H, etc.) If you set the size to around 80 and then reduce it
vertically by half (to get the proper aspect ratio on a 640 screen),
you'll get a perfectly-sized drive icon. :) Heck, if everyone is
naming their drives "Calvin" and "Hobbes", I'm going to change mine to
"Calvin", "TracerBullet", "SpacemanSpiff" and "StupdendousMan" . Or
maybe "Calvin", "Hobbes", "Susie" and "Biff" (with the appropriate
icons, of course). So there. ;-)

Umm... you can pay lots of money and buy Apple's Font Pack 1 (sp?)
from your local Mac(tm) dealer... Or find one of the new LaserWriters
and yank/convert the fonts from there...

But that doesn't preserve the style and size of the selection.
Everything gets zapped to the exact same font. If all I want to do is
change the typeface, I can't use "Choose Font...".

You should see Garamond Narrow at 12 point. It's as bad on the
screen as Times 9. ;-)
