No. Not at all. The FST supports a _file system_, it's up to the device
drivers to support hardware. I think GS+ had a good article for absolute
now-nothings :) about FSTs some time back.
Basically, it works like this: The driver reads the raw data, the FST inter-
pretes it. So, if you get some MS-DOS info on an audio tape (unlikely :),
and a driver for an audio tape device (unlikely :), the FST will handle this
just fine.
Similar for writing ... if we ever get write-capabilities for MS-DOS, you can
write MS-DOS info on normal GCR drives ... it just won't do you much good,
since no MeSsy-DOS machine will read them.
So, the bottom line is: The FST doesn't support it, the hardware device driver
does.
