Help!! Help!! On Internet FTP transfer for the IIGS
If there is anyone who has experience pulling shareware for the IIGS off
of the Internet, I could sure use some help.
I found several sites that have IIGs and II software. I have been able to
transfer programs down to Macs and IBM's through our maineframe; however,
I have had a hell of a time getting the info over from the Mac to the
IIGS.
I have tried downloading the software using multiple protocals (binary,
bin-hex, ect.). When the mac receives the info (no matter what format) it
thinks the file is a text file. To allow the mac to understand Apple-II
format I utilized a utility that allows (the mac) to read prodos files.
NO LUCK-----NO LUCK-----NO LUCK.
When taking these files over to the GS side of the world it can recognize
the files, but can not work with them. The IIGS also thinks they are text
files.
The last file I tried to download was a copy of the system 6.0 for the
IIGS.
The file is not compressed and my IIGS system still cannot boot up the
info.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY TIPS OR TRICKS I WOULD BE GREATFUL.
Also if anyone knows of a software for the IIGS that will interface with
internet and have the ability to pull off files -- I have connectivity to
the internet system through appletalk localtalk.
