    Well, you've certainly come to the right place.  :)

    How do you know the file isn't compressed?  Just because the file
type says it's "ASCII text" doesn't necessarily mean it's a text file. 
That might just be the default file type.  Also, make sure you are using
BINARY mode when FTP'ing files.

    Check the FAQ for details on unpacking archives.  Briefly, *.SHK and
*.BXY are ShrinkIt archives and *.BSQ is a Binscii file.  You need the
respective utilities to unpack them (on the GS, use GS/ShrinkIt for the
first two and GSCii+ for the last).

    Hmmm... I wonder how MuGS will work on a GS connected to a UNIX
box's filesystem through AppleTalk...
