Oversized graphics
I've converted several GIF's to oversized Apple Preferred Format
pictures. GIFview does a nice job of displaying them in dithered
16-level greyscale, and the resulting pictures print out superbly on a
high-resolution laser or bubblejet printer (using a halftone screen at
75 lpi/300 dpi or 90 lpi/360 dpi). I have three anime pics (one each
from Iczer One, Orange Road and Dominion), a "Heathers" photo and a
nicely done scan of a Mercedes 560 SEL.
They range from about 80K to over 150K (around 550x780), or about
five times the size of your average "normal-sized" APF. As far as I
know, the only available program that can handle oversized pics is
Platinum Paint 2.0. Even SuperConvert will truncate them to fit the
obsolete 64K barrier. However, if there's any interest, I can upload my
conversions to an FTP site.
