    ProDOS 8 and other components of Apple II System Software have
always been distributable, provided you are *licensed* to do so.  I'm
pretty sure caltech isn't.  Otherwise you can expect a visit from
Apple's legal department.

    Sure, what do you think that P8 file is in your System folder?  ;-) 
Besides, the rule applies to any Apple II system software, not just
GS/OS.

    No, you distribute a small program which looks for the original game
file and modifies it.  That's perfectly legal.  You don't need to
contact the original authors to crack copy protection...

    You'd be surprised, Roy... Besides, why risk shutting down the whole
site because of a couple of ShrinkIt files?  All you have to do is take
the disks, delete the offending files (game programs, system software,
etc.) and reupload it.  Problem solved.
