Indeed. I bought Pointless 2.0.1 (2.1? can't remember offhand) via
mail order, and it's worked great for me so far. But I don't intend
to order TypeWest, and these reports of delays aren't helping any :)

I'd like to step in to defend the company a little. They are behind.
They readily admit that. I ordered TypeWest with Pointless 2.0.1, and
they freely stated that it would be delayed. They also stated VERY
clearly that my credit card would NOT be charged until shipped. They
held true to this, unlike some other companies which I have dealt
with. They have a 1-800 number accessable from Canada, which for
those of us north of the border is very important, and helpful.

Finally, I recieved TypeWest today. It has a collection of fonts that
work flawlessly with the GS, unlike many of the public-domain fonts
that I have collected. Also, for those of us with patience, two bonus
fonts are included on the disks. It's a solid package, and I'd
personally rather have a solid package than a rushed to market
schlock. (As an aside, that's why I'm waiting patiently for Orca/C
2.0 :-) )

Enclosed with TypeWest is a PRE-ORDER form for HardPressed. WestCode
again CLEARLY states in the letter that they do not expect to ship
until likely April, pending completion and testing. However, they
offer a reduced price for ordering HardPressed ahead of time. Again,
C/C will not be charged until shipped. I've ordered it. I trust
WestCode to deliver solid, dependable, transparent products.
Pointless is a great example.

I guess, although this is pure speculation, that WestCode policy is to
take orders ahead of time before release, possibly in order to gauge
demand and decide exactly how much product to produce at a time (ie
manuals, etc...). It's a different policy than announce-on-release
and get backordered to beat heck, and once you realize it for what it
is, I personally don't find it that bad! :-)

But hey, my opinions are my own, and you have to decide for yourself
of course! Happy hacking! :-)
