Pointless...

Good afternoon,

Ever since I got Pointless 2.0 (or whatever the newest version is) I 
can't seem to use the 'funky' characters in the fonts...like the (R)
or the (c) or the apple or the bullet...you know stuff like that.
How can I get at these?  I thought it might be the program I was using
but I have tried several such as EGOed, Teach, BeagelWrite, DeluxeWrite
etc...but if the program recognizes the TT fonts in the first place then
it should print all the characters of the font.

So, my question stands...How do I get these to print out to the screen?
