Subject: System 7.1P used by the Apple Performa 600, et al...

Can anyone explain to me what the differences are between System 7.1
and System 7.1P which prevents the near-future release of Kanji-Talk
from running on the Performa 600.  I've been told that for some reason
this is true and I'd like to find out why.
Is it an OS related issue or hardware?
