update events - JAY/MATT/DAVE please help

(sorry for the subject line - ANY useful tips from almost anyone are
heartily welcome!)

The quest goes on:
 
I have a window with a simple QD picture. The program also maintains
some pseudo controls below this "official" control by writing text and
icons directly into the window. Now the strange thing:
 
- when another window is in front and I click into the content region
VERY quickly (i.e. release the button immediately), TaskMaster selects
the window but does not redraw the quickdraw picture!
 
- when you wait a bit longer and then release the button, then window
will be activated AND updated correctly.
 
Any suggestions? Is something wrong with taskmaster?
