I sounds like you don't have the order of the libraries correct on your system.
The library files have to be in the right order for the code to link correctly.
It talks about this and tells you the order of the files in the appendix I think.  It should have an installer script that installs it correctly.  If not,
the manual should tell the correct order for the files.
