Info wanted on file formats: EA's Cartooners

A posting on behalf of Adam, my 6 year old brother:

Do you know how to make any sound effects on Cartooners? It's a
game we have and we don't know how to make some more sounds that
we make up? Thank you.

Er, some more explanation:

Cartooners is an animation program, originally an Electronic
Arts product (or distributed by them), that Big Red Computer
Club now distributes. It's awesome!

On to Adam's question: I can't figure out how to use sounds or
music from other sources (e.g. raw data sound files, or Music
Construction Set songs). The ad from Big Red says that Instant
Music files should be compatible, but unfortunately we don't
have this program.

Does anyone know what format these sound/music files are in?
The file type is binary, so that's not much help. Any
enlightenment would be appreciated.

P.S. The scenery pictures and actors are Deluxepaint II
compatible (pictures and brushes, respectively). This point is
documented in the manual; sound compatibility is not (unless
we're missing something).
