I didn't know that. Anyone else here have this problem?
There is an easy solution. An init can remove the desk accessories.
This is also a good idea for Alternate Display Mode. I got sick of seeing it
there, so a very small init of mine removes it. You just cal RemoveCDA.
 
Contact me in e-mail and I'll send you an init to remove them. As long as you
usually boot to GS/OS, this is a good solution.
 
Do these IIGS qualify as defective? I would think they do and that a ROM chip
or motherboard swap repair should be covered by the warranty. You ought to call
the Apple 800 number and ask about it.
