Why so surprised? If I was given a JAR file the only way I'd know how to run it is to double click it or right click it and look for an Open context menu item. I've been using and programming computers since 1981 and using the internet since 1991 but have little to no interest in Java so if it doesn't start using the methods above, I'd probably not bother with it at all.
